Founded in 1990, Great Pacific Securities (GPS) is an Institutional financial services firm headquartered in Costa Mesa, California. Possessing a strong capital structure, GPS maintains five main divisions. The firm has an experienced trading desk specializing in equity and fixed income execution, a Debt Underwriting Department, an Equity Underwriting and Corporate Buy Back Department, a Municipal Bond Department and a Consulting arm.
GPS’s trading desk consists of four professionals with combined experience of over 75 years in institutional order execution. GPS’s current base of institutional clients consists of over 300 professional money managers, both US and internationally based. GPS traded over $36 Billion in fixed income and equities in 2010.
GPS is a member of FINRA (formerly NASD), MSRB and SIPC. Additonally, GPS is a Certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).
Strengths of the Firm
GPS Underwriting Department is one of the strengths of the firm. GPS is a direct underwriter for Freddie Mac and the Federal Home Loan Bank System (FHLB). The firm has access to the Freddie and FHLB discount note windows and the ability to underwrite Agency debt for its clients. In addition, GPS is in all the major underwriter pools in the State of California. These opportunities as an underwriter has lead to the expansion and strength of the municipal desk.
GPS offers excellent equity execution to its clients as well as access to new products. The firm routinely trades baskets of stocks for some of the largest managers in the U.S. such as CalPERS and New York State Retirement Fund. Our experienced desk specializes in VWAP, IS and enhanced MOC orders. These execution strategies, coupled with our equity underwriting and corporate buy back presence, have allowed GPS to become one to the leading institution firms in its space.
Consistent client service is extremely important to GPS, so the firm uses a team approach that includes your Institutional Account Executive and the trading desk. Our clients may speak with any member of the trading desk/coverage team at any time to request bids, offers, quantitative or qualitative research, portfolio management tutelage or advice. Ultimately, any request received by our clients will have input from all members of the coverage team.
